Letters soliciting appointments, recommending candidates or discussing the activities of bailiffs have been formed into a series with several lists and related records of the period 1764-1775.

The series also consists of postal covers for the period from 1768 to 1774 which were in most cases mailed from villages in Lower Canada, and are all addressed to Quebec City. There are 106 covers in the series. A finding aid describing these covers has been prepared and is available as CPA-253. Of particular interest are the first manuscript postal markings for Berthier [B] (1772-1774), Montreal [M] (1768-1774) and Montreal's first postmark [M.2:16] used in 1774.
