Series consists of letters received by Edward Ermatinger, 1820-1874, arranged alphabetically, volume 1-2, 0.01 m. Also available on microfilm, C-375. A portion of the letters are available in photostats. Also available are typescripts of letters from John Tod volume 5; miscellaneous papers, chiefly business and militia records, 1818-1872, and including material relating to the Rebellion of 1837, volume 3, 0.05 m; and diaries and memoranda, 1823-1837, chiefly relating to Edward Ermatinger's travels while with the Hudson's Bay Company, 1826-1839, and photostats of French Canadian folksongs collected by him, ca. 1830, 20 pages volume 4.

The series also consists of 43 postal covers covering the period from 1829 to 1853.

General note:

Received at intervals, 1915-1923, from Judge C.O. Ermatinger of St. Thomas, Ont. The photostats of folksongs were made in 1942 from originals loaned by Mrs. C.O. Ermatinger of Portland, Oregon.
