Series consists of recordings primarily produced by the National Arts Centre to document events held at the Centre. Most of the videotapes consist of recordings taken from a single angle and from a distance of various theatre, dance and music productions between 1978 and 1989. There are also some television broadcasts of performances. The films show the construction of the National Arts Centre and its opening, the unveiling of the cornerstone by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1967, the National Arts Centre Orchestra on parade during Symphony Week in the summer of 1972, various images projected as part of the background during a performance and a training session held for young people learning to be clowns. The sound recording consists of speeches by Minister of Public Works Arthur Laing, Secretary of State Gérard Pelletier, Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau and Lawrence Freiman, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Arts Centre, on the occasion of the opening of the centre in 1969.
