The sub-series consists of films accumulated by the Department of Veterans Affairs of Canada, including productions made for the department and some made by other government departments and organizations in the United States and Great Britain (ex. National Film Board, the British Ministry of Informaion, the U.S. Army Signal Corps and Vancouver Motion Pictures Ltd.). The subjects of the films include: the achievements of the Canadian military in the First World War; physical and psychological rehabilitation with emphasis on the treatment of war veterans; ceremonies in honour of war veterans of the South African War, the First World War, the Second World War and the Korean War; documentaries and ceremonies marking the anniversaries of battles such as Vimy Ridge and Dieppe; documentaries and a newsreel about the war effort during the Second World War; training films about aviation, constructing earthworks, physics, chemistry and the making of motion pictures; and footage of the department's logo circa the 1950s. There are also some British, French and American silent fiction films dating from the early 1900s, instructional films about sports such as boxing, hockey, bowling, skiing and basketball; films of musical entertainment for soldiers and amateur footage of a country fair.
