Sub-series consists of material relating to the Reverend Charles Barnard Roderick Hunter (1860-[1930]), youngest son of the Venerable Dr. James Hunter and his second wife, Jean Ross Hunter, and to his family. It comprises: an illuminated manuscript album containing 5 watercolours, [1894], presented to the Reverend Charles B.R. Hunter on his departure from his first parish (vol. 5, file 101 contains a convenience copy); a blank wedding invitation to the wedding of the Rev. Charles B.R. Hunter and Elsie Campbell, daughter of Mrs. Dickson of Edinburgh, on Wednesday 18 April [1894] (vol. 5, file 102); a printed poster, 23 November [1894], advertising the Annual Meeting of the British and Foreign Bible Society at Seaton Carew, presided over by the Rev. Charles Hunter (vol. 5, file 103); a printed booklet, "Indian Missions. Diocese of Saskatchewan. Missions, Schools, etc.", 1902 (vol. 5, file 104); and some miscellaneous correspondence and other papers of the Rev. Charles B.R. Hunter, [his wife, Elsie Campbell Hunter], [their daughter, Nan (Anne C., Mrs. G.E.) Wilkinson], and [grandson, C.E.L. Wilkinson] (vol. 5, file 105).

Hunter, Charles Barnard Roderick : The Reverend Charles Barnard Roderick Hunter (1860-[ca. 1930]) was born at the Red River Settlement in Rupert's Land (now Winnipeg, Manitoba) on 9 September 1860. He was the youngest son of the Venerable James Hunter (1817-1882), a Church Missionary Society missionary and Archdeacon of Cumberland, and his second wife, Jean Ross Hunter (1822-[1910]), eldest daughter of Donald Ross, the Hudson's Bay Company's chief factor at Norway House. Educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, he obtained his B.A. in 1882. Having received his theological education at the London College of Divinity, he was ordained deacon in 1884 and priest in 1885. From 1884 to 1894 he was curate at Brafferton in Yorkshire; he then served as vicar of Seaton Carew, 1894-1908; vicar of St. Paul's, West Hartlepool, Durham, 1908-1915; and rector of Ryton-on-Tyne, 1915-1929. He retired to Hexham in Northumberland, and appears to have died ca. 1930. His marriage to Elsie Campbell [Dickson] of Edinburgh is believed to have occurred on 18 April [1894].
