Gitksan Carrier District Office : Following the creation of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development in 1966, agencies were joined to form larger administrative units called districts. The Gitksan Carrier District Office was located in Hazelton, BC and was created in 1977 from a division of the Terrace District into the Gitksan Carrier District and a smaller Terrace District office. Prior to 1978, the name was spelled Gitshan-Carrier District. The office was responsible for: Glen Vowell; Hagwilget; Hazelton 168; Kispiox; Kitsegukla; Kitwancool; Kitwanga 169; and Moricetown. In 1985 it became the Hazelton District office.
