Indian and Inuit Affairs Program (Canada). Southern Alberta District Office : Following the creation of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development in 1966, agencies were joined to form larger administrative units called districts. In 1966 the Blood Agency and Peigan Agency offices were amalgamated to form the Blood-Peigan District Office. In 1969 the Blackfoot Agency and Stoney-Sarcee Agency offices were amalgamated to form the Blackfoot/Stoney/Sarcee District Office. In a 1983 reorganization in the Alberta Region, a new administrative structure was created. Bands in southern Alberta came under the the administrative responsibility of the Southern Alberta District Office (with headquarters in Calgary).
