Public Works Canada. Ontario Region : The Ontario Region of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) encompasses the province of Ontario, excluding the National Capital Area.
Starting in 1967, the management of regional operations became decentralized and the department reorganized into six regional offices that would have greater autonomy over the management of projects. One of the central principles behind the organization of the department was "a conviction of the need to decentralize operations as much as possible, while providing for the required centralized planning and control." The six regional directors-general report directly to the Deputy Minister through the Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations and have equivalent organizational status as the heads of the functional divisions at headquarters. The regional directors-general are responsible for managing departmental operations and directing ongoing operations in the regions.
In Ontario Region, PWGSC provides the full range of common and administrative services to a variety of federal client departments, primarily through Client Service Units. These service and business lines include: Real Property Services; Supply Operations Service; Government Operational Service, Government Telecommunications and Informatics Services; Consulting and Audit Canada; and Translation Services. The Regional Office is located in Toronto, with satellite offices also found in Mississauga, London, Kingston, Borden, Pembroke, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and North Bay amongst others.Additional information:Source of title:Title is based on the contents of the series.Accruals:Further accruals are expected.Source:GovernmentFormer archival reference no.:RG11-G-4 -
