Series consists of records created and/or maintained by the Task Force on Atlantic Fisheries. Included in the series are administrative files (1000-1650) consisting of planning lists and reports; liaison files with government or private sector committees and associations; general information holdings; routine office services and conditions; and reports on parliamentary and legislative matters. Personnel files (1812-2300) include financial records and expenses accounts, including financial contracts and travel receipts of task force members; employment applications and consultants; and various human resources planning.
However, the majority of the records are to be found within the 9000 listing, a series structured exclusively for the work of the Task Force. They include the 9000 "restructuring" series, the 9010 "agreements" series and the 9020 series on committees. These records consist of the Task Force's research on the industry's structure, companies, and problems. Documents concern the evaluation of information; the clarification of issues and recommendations; the outline and organization of policy options; proposed agreements between the federal and provincial governments; committee discussions and reports, and directives pursued, debated, and published by the Task Force.
Other policy records included within the 9000 listing are the "companies" series (9030-9070). These files are assigned to the various fishing or processing companies directly involved with the Task Force's restructuring plans. Documents include reports profiling the resource, employment, and production standing of the companies; financial outlines; and proposed options. The 9080 "enterprise allocations and quotas" series involves files concerning proposed policy changes to catch allocations and projections, licences, quota regulations, and marketing strategies. A "financial" series (9090) records further fiscal information related to restructuring options, and a "provincial" series (9100) documents further liaison between the Task Force and the provincial governments.
A card index was produced by the Task Force and is located within volume 2035. The listing within this subject index is in alphabetical order.
