Series consists of records created and/or maintained by the National Labour Supply Council. This material consists of documents covering such subjects as the establishment of the National Labour Supply Council, the Joint Production Committee, National Registration, wartime labour policy, the Advisory Committee on Reconstruction, reserved occupations, rehabilitation plans complaints concerning industrial "poaching", and various industrial disputes.

The architectural plans relate to the Read Building, 420 Lagauchetière St., West, Montreal by Ross & MacDonald architects; Place Viger Hotel in Montreal; the Desbarats Annex in West Montreal; and Unemployment Insurance Commission offices, with pamphlets and correspondence concerning U.I.C. buildings in Montreal and Toronto. The two maps pertain to the Read Building and a zone plan of properties surrounding the building.

Canada. National Labour Supply Council : The National Labour Supply Council was established on 19 June 1940 by Order in Council PC 2686, to advise the Minister of Labour on matters relating to the labour supply situation. The Council was set up by the Government, pursuant to its declaration of certain principles in PC 2685 for the regulation of labour conditions during the war, "to advise on any matters touching labour supply for industry". On the recommendation of the Council, the Inter-departmental Committee on Labour Co-ordination was established by PC 5922 of 25 October 1940. The Committee was to co-ordinate the work of all government agencies with respect to matters affecting labour supply. The National Labour Supply Council was discontinued on 24 February 1942 by PC 1426. At this time the Interdepartmental Committee was enlarged and then transferred to the National Selective Service Advisory Board, which had just been set up by PC 2254, 21 March 1942, PC 2250, 21 March (which was revoked by PC 5038, June 12) and PC 2251, March 21, 1942. Note générale :

RG27M 756/22934 contains plans of Unemployment Insurance Commission offices and attached to the verso of item #1 is a three page typewritten manuscript, from E.R. Beckwith, Chief of Premises, U.I,C. Offices, Ottawa. It is dated 18 Dec. 1944, and outlines the construction of U.I.C. offices.

RG27M 756/22935 consists of correspondence outlining the locations of buildings, lease expirations, and space available for rent.
