Sub-series consists of records that originated from the Pension and Insurance Division, and its predecessor, the Pension and Social Insurance Section. Earlier records were amalgamated and renumerated within the 8300-8700 series. The division was responsible for controlling and coordinating government public service programs associated with the pensions, insurance (unemployment, health, and compensation) and social security allowances (old age, youth, and veterans's benefits). Files within this series consist of, among other elements; records related to the development, monitoring and evaluation of policies, contributions, and financial administration of these programs; committee findings and provincial outlines of government health and insurance plans, as well as client inquiries regarding the nature and the coverage of the various public service pension and securities programs.
