Department Of Public Relations : The Department of Public Relations was established in 1963 and was given the principal objectives of making the world aware of Expo '67; persuading all Canadians to accept and support Expo '67; assisting in attracting participants; convincing people everywhere that they must see Expo '67; and establishing and maintaining complete information facilities throughout the exhibition by making full use of publicity and advertising. The Public Relations Department consisted of three branches - the Public Relations Branch, the Advertising and Promotion Branch, and the Information Branch. The Public Relations Branch established liaison with, and enlisted the aid of government and private interests for assistance in conducting publicity and promotion campaigns. The Advertising and Promotion Branch conducted a series of prestige advertising and promotion campaigns with the assistance of advertising agencies. The Information Branch kept the public informed by direct mail campaigns, by telephone, brochures, pamphlets, folders, and a continuous stream of press releases to newspapers, radio and television.
