Policy and Planning Branch : The Policy and Planning Branch of the Water Sector of the Deptartment of Energy, Mines and Resources (EMR) was responsible for coordinating federal, inter-departmental, federal-provincial and international activities in the use and study of water and advised on the socio-economic impact of such activities. When the Department of the Environment was established in 1970, the Water Management Service was formed from the Water Sector of EMR. RG89 General InventoryAdditional information:Source of title:Title is based on the contents of the series.Custodial history:The Policy and Planning Branch, along with the Marine Sciences Branch and the Inland Waters Branch, were transferred from the Department of Fisheries and Forestry prior to the creation of the Department of the Environment (P.C. 2047, 26 November 1970). As a consequence of the transfer, the then current files were also transferred. An attempt was made to integrate the files into the Fisheries and Forestry registry system. This was done by reclassifying the files and placing the material inside new file jackets. However, the files had little material of any significance added to them after their transfer from Energy, Mines and Resources. Thus, the material has been arranged according to the file number applied to them by the Department of Fisheries and Forestry but this inventory is prepared for the Policy and Planning Branch, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources.Accruals:No further accruals are expected.Source:GovernmentFormer archival reference no.:RG89-C-1 -
