Series consists of Deputy Director General Bruce Corder's files containing material touching on such topics as capital budgets and expenditures, the restaurant, catering services, Festival Ottawa, the National Survey of Theatres, the National Arts Centre's Music Department, the dance and variety department, programming committees, exhibitions and the National Arts Centre's task force. Although the outside dates for the records in this series are 1964-1988, the bulk of the material relates directly to Corder's tenure as Deputy Director General for the period 1973-1987.

National Arts Centre (Canada). Office of the Deputy Director General : In 1973, Bruce Corder filled the newly created position of Deputy Director General and held this position until 1987. He also served as Acting Director General in 1987. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Director General, Corder served as National Arts Centre Director of Operations (1967-1973). Prior to this appointment, Corder acted as a consultant to the National Centre for the Performing Arts, and before this, he worked at the O'Keefe Centre and the Royal Opera, Covent Garden. Part of the responsibilities of the Deputy Director General included establishing protocol for state visits, formulating policy in both the artistic and operational areas, as well as being involved in opera production.
