Sub-series consists of records created and maintained by the lockmaster at Clowes, on the Rideau Canal. Lock records consist of lockmaster's journals, 1876-1899, 1909-1912, 1920-1938; checklist of locks showing tolls, 1879-1899; and a book of way passes, 1908-1910.

Canada. Dept. of Transport. Lockmaster (Clowes, Ont.) : The lockmaster at Clowes on the Rideau Canal was in direct charge of the lock station and reported to the Superintending Engineer of the Rideau Canal. The lockmaster enforced canal regulations, compiled statistics, supervised labourers, and prepared journals and reports. RG43 General Inventory
