Arctic Weather Station Sea Supply Mission : In the late 1940s and early 1950s, the Arctic Weather Station Sea Supply Missions were carried out jointly by Canada and the United States. Numerous federal departments were involved, with the Canadian participants being coordinated by the Northwest Territories and Yukon Service (and later the Northern Administration and Lands Branch, although the former's file numbers are maintained). Field surveys and investigations were carried on at various points in the Canadian High Arctic in connection with the topography, geography, geology, and wildlife of the area. Ice observations and other scientific projects, like Operation Nanook, were carried on from shipboard, as well as certain defence studies. RG85 General Inventory

These records were maintained by Keith R. Greenaway, who was himself involved in many of the events described in these records, and were transferred by him in 1978 to the National Archives of Canada.
