The records are composed of several types of material: divisional administration files, private consultants' reports, files documenting interviews with corporate executives of specific companies, case studies and monitoring reports of private and public sector projects involving government assistance, individual corporate appraisals (including those of crown corporations such as DeHavilland Aircraft and Canadair), sectoral studies (such as one on banking) and major research and methodology analyses. Since the dissolution of this division in 1986, the mandate and many of the functions of this division have been transferred to other divisions within the department.Additional name(s):Biography/Administrative history:Corporate Finance Division : The Corporate finance division was created in order to expand and concentrate on certain activities previously associated with other divisions in the department. It operated from 1981 to 1986 as a division of the Economic Programs and Government Finance Branch. From the beginning the division monitored corporate financial health and corporate activities in Canadian financial markets. It provided in depth studies and research while offering policy advice on an ad hoc basis, depending on the immediate concerns of the deputy minister.
