The series consists of scrapbooks, printed material, and loose clippings from newspapers and magazines. The contents are generally articles written by James Burns McGeachy or articles written by others about or mentioning him. His work appeared in periodicals ranging from "International Journal", "Saturday Night", and "Shell News" to "The Canadian Unionist" and "The Listener". The series does not hold a substantial selection of his newspaper columns although it does contain clippings from the "Winnipeg Free Press" of the 1930s, including some of his "Confederation Clinic" columns on the Rowell-Sirois Royal Commission. An early scrapbook contains articles written for the "New York Times" and British newspapers in the late 1920s. The clippings and printed material about McGeachy include reaction to his columns and broadcasts, articles about him, obituaries and tributes, and brief references to him or his work. In addition to clippings from newspapers, it includes issues of publications such as "Chitty's Law Journal", "London Calling", "CBC Times", "Hansard", and "Maclean-Hunter Newsweekly", reflecting the broad range of reaction to his work. Tributes to him were written by journalists Robert Fulford, Wilfrid Eggleston, and McKenzie Porter, among others.

General note:

Only a small selection of James Burns McGeachy's newspaper columns have survived in his personal papers at the National Archives. Researchers should consult microfilm copies of the newspapers for which he wrote (see the biographical sketch) to locate more of his columns. The "Canadian Periodical Index" also lists of some of his articles in "The Financial Post" and other periodicals.
