ca. 5 cm of textual recordsLanguage of material:EnglishAdded language of material:English, FrenchScope and content:This sub-series consists of architectural and technical plans and drawings for an estimated 600 projects, buildings and other structures created or modified in preparation of the 1967 World Exhibition. Drawings in this sub-series were created and/or maintained by the Department of Installations and relate to the activities of the Chief Architect's Branch, the Engineering Branch, the Construction Branch, the Theme Exhibition Branch and the Maintenance Branch.
Each structure was assigned a Key Reference Number based on its location in one of five areas on the Expo site. Key Reference Numbers in the 100s are for structures located in Area 1 of the Expo site plan and relate to the Master Plan. Key Reference Numbers in the 200s were assigned to structures in Area 2 of the Expo site, located at Cité du Havre. Key Reference Numbers in the 300s were assigned to structures in Area 3 of the Expo site, located at Ile-Sainte-Hélène. Key Reference Numbers in the 400s were assigned to structures in Area 4 of the Expo site, located at Ile-Notre-Dame. Finally, Key Reference Numbers in the 500s were assigned to structures in Area 5 of the Expo site, located at La Ronde.
This sub-series has been divided into sub-sub-series based on each of the five areas of the Expo site and consists of architectural drawings related to each structure, arranged by key reference number. There is also a sub-sub-series for submissions for the short-span bridge design competition which consists of architectural drawings and their corresponding textual records.Additional name(s):Biography/Administrative history:Canadian Corporation for the 1967 World Exhibition. Architectural Branch : The Architectural Branch, also referred to as the Chief Architect's Branch, was formed in October 1963 as part of the Department of Installations. The branch was subdivided into the Design Division, the Planning Division, and the Structure Division and as such was responsible for exhibit and industrial design, the site master plan and layout, and the integration of pavilion structures within the master plan.
