Sub-series consists of records on departmental organization which were created and maintained by the Office of the Deputy Minister. Volume 82 of this sub-series contains an organization chart of the Department of the Interior, 1929-1932; newspaper clippings related to the dissolution of the Department of the Interior, 1929-1933; and a history of the department written by Dr. Ernest Voorhis entitled "Summarized Technical History of the Establishment and Development of the Department of the Interior Arranged by Years with a General History of the Department and Brief History of Each Branch with Chronological Chart" (1873-1927). Also included in this volume is a chart on the proposed re-organization of the Departments of Interior, Mines, Immigration and Indian Affairs, 1932. Part one of the chart shows the organization from 1873 to 1932 and part two the proposed reorganization.

The sub-series also contains Orders in Council relating to the administration of the Department of the Interior, 1874-1888 and 1891-1932 (Vols. 83-125); files related to staff relations, 1922-1936 (Vol. 126); and employment books covering the period 1914 to 1948 (Vols. 127-133).

Note: the original oversized items in the following volumes or files have been moved to horizontal drawers: Vol. 82 (Organization Chart - "Proposed Interdepartmental Reorganization Affecting the Departments [of the] Interior, Mines, Immigration and Indian Affairs" - c. 1932) is now located in Vol. 3174. Vol. 131(a), File 305076 (Poster - Allan Line Royal Mail Steamers - "Liverpool to Canada and the United States" - n.d.) is now located in Vol. 3206.
