The minutebook traces the amalgamation of the company into the Hochelaga Cotton Company, while the financial reports provide detailed analysis of production costs. The financial reports are an excellent example of the early use of scientific management.

Victor Hudon Cotton Mills : The V. Hudon Cotton Mills Company began operations in Montreal in 1873 as the city's first textile mill. Organized by Victor Hudon, the company was the only major textile firm to conduct its business in both French and English. The mill was soon controlled by Andrew F. Gault and David Morrice, the two leading figures in the Canadian textile industry. Under the tariff protection of the National Policy (1879), the company grew to become the largest producer of grey cotton cloth in Canada. When the demand for cotton cloth declined dramatically in 1883, Gault merged The V. Hudon Cotton Mills Co. with La Compagnie de filature Sainte-Anne in an effort to stabilize the market. Under the new company, the Hochelaga Cotton Co, the Hudon mill was subsequently known as the Hochelaga mill. The Hochelaga mill continued operations until 1953, when it was closed by Dominion Textile.
