The registers are an alphabetical index to land patentees giving the name, address, land description, date of notification, date of delivery of patent, date of receipt and number, to whom delivered, and file number given in the remarks from 1882. Registers numbered 1 to 6 are titled "Register of issue of patents," and also include the number of acres and the nature of the grant.
Sub-series includes the original registers for numbers 2 to 5, as well as two sets of aperture card copies for numbers 1 to 27. Each aperture card consists of a microfiche image held in a paper index card. In most cases each image is one page of the original register. The aperture card copies of the registers are also known as RG15 aperture card books 203 to 229.Additional information:Source of title:Title is based on the contents of the sub-series.Custodial history:The aperture cards in this sub-series were created by a successor to the Department of the Interior sometime between 1948 and 1970. They were copied from original registers and ledgers and most of the originals were then destroyed. The aperture cards and remaining original registers were then transferred to the National Archives in the early 1970s.
