Scope and content:

Sub-series consists of index to patentees who received letters patent for land from the Crown between 1873 and 1930, some up to 1950. Each entry gives the name of the patentee, land description, acreage, nature of grant, grant number, district and list number, reference or fiat number, date of patent, liber and folio, file number, receipt number and remarks. The index consists of aperture cards which are images of the original registers. Each aperture card consists of a microfiche image held in a paper index card. In most cases each image is one page of the original register. The registers are also known as RG15 aperture card books 1 to 36. This sub-series includes two copies of each aperture card book.

Title is based on the contents of the sub-series.

Custodial history:

he aperture cards in this sub-series were created by a successor to the Department of the Interior sometime between 1948 and 1970. They were copied from original registers and ledgers and the originals were then destroyed. The aperture cards were then transferred to the National Archives in the early 1970s.

RG15 Aperture Card books were available in the LAC reference room until January 2023.
