Scope and content:

Album contains photographs, stereo-halves as well as pencil and coloured drawings of locomotives by John Loye and several prints of lithographs of steam ships and steam wrecks. Compiled by C. Theodore Hart. Subjects include Victoria Bridge under construction, 1858; GTR Bridges, railroad locomotives and cars built in Canada and the UK, scenes of GTR Snowploughs and repair shops, several steam ships, river and lake passenger steamers and tugboats. Events include the landing of HRH The Princess Louise and The Marquis of Lorne at Halifax, 1878; presentation of the colours of the Victorian Volunteer Rifles, 1862. Portraits include Sir R. Wilson, Sir A. Carron, C. Hays, F.H. McGuigan and other prominent GTR men, Sir Hugh Allan, George Drummond, Georges-Etienne Cartier, Charles Cassels, HRH The Prince Arthur etc. Photographs by Alexander Henderson, Gubelman, S.H. Parsons, Notman, Notman & Sandham, Livernois and Frank Micklethwaite.
