Montmorency Cotton Mills Co : The Montmorency Cotton Mills Company was established in 1898 through the amalgamation of the Montmorency Cotton Manufacturing Company and the Riverside Manufacturing Company, both of Montmorency, Quebec. The merger allowed the new firm to expand its production from grey cloth to hosiery yarns, towelling, sheeting and flannels, increasing the company's international sales to China and colonial Africa. Chinese exports collapsed after the Boxer Rebellion in 1900, and the company never fully recovered. In order to maintain operations the company merged with Dominion Cotton Mills, The Merchants Cotton Company and The Colonial Bleaching and Printing Company to form Dominion Textile in 1905. The Montmorency Cotton Mills Co. remained a legal company until 1920. Dominion Textile continued to operate the Montmorency Mills until the 1980s.
