Collection consists of three large multiples for Prince Edward Island, including a block of 12 (6 x 2) and a block of 36 (6 x 6) for the 1870 4-1/2d in brown, and a complete trial colour plate proof sheet for the 1872 one-cent, in black.

Biography/Administrative history:

Carr, Robert V. C, 1919-2004 : Dr. Robert V.C. [Van Court] Carr was born in New Castle, PA in 1919, and as a child, moved to Youngstown, OH and has been there ever since. He is a retired dentist, having done undergraduate work at Youngstown University and dental studies at Wester Reserve University. During the Second World War, he served in the army where he learned to speak Chinese at Yale University and spent time in India and China. As a Major, he had a 14-bed hospital in China on the Burma Road. He was married, with two daughters and a son.

Philatelically, Dr. Carr belongs to many stamp organizations and has exhibited in many national and international shows. A member of the British North America Philatelic Society (BNAPS) for about 40 years, he has been very active in its administration, both as President and Director, and for many years wrote biographical sketches of members for BNA Topics. He has collected all BNA stamps in the past, but now concentrates British Columbia and Prince Edward Island. He was honoured by being elected to the Order of the Beaver (BNAPS) some years ago. Dr. Carr died in October 2004 at the age of 85.
