Sub-series consists of omnibus cardboard containers with subgroupings of "files" on several subjects. These containers are known as Shannon files. The Shannon files (Vols. 11137-11171) appear in a number of forms indicating that the agency filing system was adapted over the years to meet changing circumstances. The first few (Vols. 11137-11141) contain general correspondence, arranged chronologically and relating to all aspects of agency administration. At some point the agent developed a very broad alphabetical subject system with the result that Shannon files were created for correspondence relating to such subjects as circulars, estates, fishing, timber, war participation, welfare, etc. These latter files are found in volumes 11142-11156. Still other correspondence was arranged by the agency office in Shannon files according to band name (volumes 11156-11171). Some of the Shannon files have been removed from their original containers and placed in file folders and some have been given artificial part designations (A, B, C, etc.). In general, the Shannon files cover a wide range of subjects relating to virtually all aspects of agency administration.
