Lennard and Sons Ltd. Accounting records document the company's fiscal management and offer insights into its sales network. General accounting journals and ledgers detail company administration and financial health. A payroll ledger and wage sheets provide information on employee salaries, as well as an internal system of cash sales. Sales ledgers and Representative's Sales records offer information on Lennard's sales network, and their clients, both large and small. In addition to output, the production record describes the various processes and departments during the final years of the company's existence while the insurance records provide detailed information on the factory and its equipment.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:S. Lennard and Sons (Firm) : S. Lennard and Sons Ltd. was established in 1878 in Dundas, Ontario. Founded by Samuel Lennard and his three sons, Samuel, Harry and Frank, the firm manufactured knit goods, including hosiery, toques and scarves. The company eventually redirected its operations and became a garment manufacturer, specializing in underwear and ladies lingerie. Their goods were sold in most major department stores across Canada. S. Lennard and Sons operated as a family business until 1969 when the company was sold to Shelway Holdings Ltd.
