A 53.52 mile line was built from Napanee as far as Tweed, Ontario. On 24 April 1890 the name was changed to the Kingston, Napanee and Western Railway Company. On 23 April 1896 this company amalgamated with the Bay of Quinte Railway and Navigation Company to form the Bay of Quinte Railway Company.
