Biography/Administrative history:

Bessemer and Barry's Bay Railway Company : The Bessemer and Barry's Bay Railway Company was incorporated on 18 June 1904 under Dominion Act, 4 Edward VII, Cap. 48 to build a railway from Detlar, near Bancroft, to Barry's Bay. It was designed to serve new mining areas. The only line built was 7.34 miles from Bessemer Junction to Childs Mine in 1905. The property was acquired from Canadian Iron Mines by Mackenzie and Mann in March 1915 and passed to the Canadian Northern Railway in June 1915. On 8 June 1954 the Bessemer and Barry's Bay Railway Company amalgamated with other companies to form Canadian Northern Consolidated Railways which was absorbed into Canadian National Railways in 1956.
