Cartographic material consists of a map of Brockville, and a route map of the Brockville, Westport and North-western Railway.Nom(s) additionnel(s) :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Brockville, Westport and North-western Railway : The Brockville, Westport and Sault Ste. Marie Railway Company was incorporated on 25 March 1884 to construct and operate a railway from Brockville through Westport to Georgian Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. (The charter of the Brockville and Westport Railway Company, incorporated on 15 February 1871, had lapsed.) Only a 44.5 mile line from Brockville to Westport was actually constructed and opened for traffic between 1886 and 1888. The company eventually experienced financial difficulties and was acquired, following a foreclosure sale in 1903, by an American syndicate. The company was reorganized and the property improved while the name was changed on 24 October 1903 to The Brockville, Westport and North-Western Railway Company. The company was acquired by Mackenzie and Mann in 1910 and transferred to the Canadian Northern Railway in 1914. In 1952 the line was abandoned by Canadian National Railways.
