It thus had 7.5 miles of line by 1911. In that year Sir William Mackenzie had acquired control of the company. Between 1914 and 1917 an additional 54 miles of line were built to Woodbridge and Guelph. In September 1918 Mackenzie sold the company to the Canadian Northern Railway. On 26 September 1923 the Toronto Suburban Railway Company amalgamated with the Toronto Eastern Railway Company to form Canadian National Electric Railways.
