Toronto and Hamilton Railway Company (1903-1906) : Canadian National Electric Railways was formed under an Amalgamation Agreement dated 7 November 1923 and approved by Order in Council (P.C. 2443, 17 December 1923). This agreement amalgamated the two Canadian Northern companies the Toronto Suburban Railway Company and the Toronto Eastern Railway Company. It inherited from these companies 76 miles of electric railway running both east and west from Toronto. In 1925 and 1926 most of the eastern lines were abandoned or transferred to municipalities. In 1928, Eldorado Park, between Cooksville and Georgetown, was purchased for use as an entertainment park during the summer season. In 1931 the 49 mile line between Toronto and Guelph was abandoned and the company went into receivership.

While operations never resumed, Canadian National Railways did keep the company in existence until, on 13 May 1954, it amalgamated with 11 other companies to form Canadian Northern Consolidated Railways which, in turn, became part of Canadian National Railways on 11 June 1956.
