James Woodford created ten heraldic statues for Queen Elizabeth's Coronation in 1953. Symbols of the Queen's royal ancestry and family allegiances, these six-foot (1.83 meter) sculptures were placed at the entrance of the Westminster Abbey annex on coronation day, June 2, 1953. Small replicas of the Queen's Beasts such as the sculptures in this accession were also produced to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's coronation. The figures are: The Lion of London, The Griffin of Edward III, The Falcon of the Plantagenets, The Black Bull of Clarence, The White Lion of Mortimer, The Yale of Beaufort, The White Greyhound of Richmond, The Red Dragon of Wales, The Unicorn of Scotland, and The White Horse of Hanover.
This sculpture set was reproduced and distributed fairly widely.
