Sub-series consists of Park Steamship Company records comprising a collection of annual reports, vessel lists and accounting records. The accounting records consist mainly of files arranged by shipping company that deal with the purchase of 58 North Sands class cargo ships by Acadia Overseas Freighters Ltd. and their subsequent assignment to various shipping companies, 1950-1953. The records appear to have been collected by a Company officer and then maintained within the Canadian Maritime Commission.

Canadian Maritime Commission. Park Steamship Company Ltd : One of the government's major wartime shipping organizations was the Park Steamship Company. This was a Crown corporation incorporated on 8 April 1942 by Letters Patent under provisions of the 1934 Dominion Companies Act (24-25 Geo. V, c. 33). It reported through the Minister of Munitions and Supply (later Reconstruction and Supply). The Park Steamship Company supervised the operation of vessels owned by the Government of Canada during the Second World War and the immediate post-war period.

The Canadian Maritime Commission was responsible for the Park Steamship Company. On the formation of the Commission, its Chairman became the President of the Company. Most of the Company's vessels had already been sold and all were disposed of by 1956. Subsequent activities of the Company were confined to seamen's compensation claims and insurance payments until the Company was dissolved by PC 31 of 6 January 1965. After this date, the Canadian Maritime Commission assumed these remaining minor functions. RG46 General Inventory
