In addition to the application, which was successful, documentation of his previous academic career, letters of support and encouragement, and then congratulations are here together with press clippings, and documentation of his college selection. Detailed correspondence during and then about his programmes at McGill and Oxford are in volume 359, file 12. Five files of his 1957 to 1967 work as secretary to the Ontario Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee are in this series. His teaching and lecture notes for a University of Toronto Business School course on advertising during 1951 to 1954 are here, as is some personal correspondence on economics. The series also documents Gillespie's work with the Canadian Institute on Public Affairs, including a speech at the Couchiching Conference in 1962. Several files document his work with the Duke of Edinburgh's Second Commonwealth Study Conference in 1962 (for the 1976 Conference, see Vol. 239, file 1).
