Canada. Canadian Army. Canadian Light Horse : The Canadian Corps Cavalry Regiment was formed at Abeele on 19 May 1916 from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Canadian Divisional Cavalry Squadrons and included the 19th Alberta Dragoons (A Squadron), the 1st Canadian Hussars (B Squadron), and 10th Canadian Mounted Rifles (16th Light Horse or C Squadron). The regiment, commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel J.H. Elmsley, was designated the Canadian Light Horse on 21 February 1917. The Canadian Light Horse returned to England on 3 March 1919, was demobilized at Toronto on March 1919, and disbanded by General Order 207 of 15 November 1920 .
