Canada. Canadian Army. Canadian Infantry Works Battalion, 2nd : The predecessor of the 2nd Canadian Infantry Works Battalion was the 4th Canadian Labour Battalion which was organized at Seaford in January 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J.W.H. Mckinery. The battalion arrived in France on 15 March 1917. Its strength was 12 officers and 976 other ranks. It was redesignated as the 2nd Canadian Infantry Works Battalion on 28 March 1918. The 2nd Canadian Infantry Works Battalion formed the 2nd and 4th Canadian Infantry Works Companies in September 1918.
