Canada. Dept. of Communications. Security and Communications Support Services : Security and Communications Support Services had a two primary responsibilities as part of the Department of Communications (DOC). It developed, implemented, and monitored all internal security polices and programs related to the protection of information, personnel, property, and facilities at DOC's headquarters office. It also had an interdepartmental mandate to provide communications security support for other federal departments and agency.

During the 1970s, the service was a branch (DGSS) of the Services Sector, but into the 1980s it was a directorate (DSCS), generally reporting through the internal service or corporate management area of DOC. It carried out its work via two divisions, the Security Programs and Operations Division and the Communications Support Services Division.
