Collection consists of 2 watercolours by John B. Anderson entitled: "The Nancy Owen, the Owen and the Cutter Plover in Refuge Inlet", 11 Aug 1849; and "The H.M.S. Plover anchored in the Bay of Eschscholtz, Kotzebue Sound, Bering Strait", ca. 1849-1850. Also included are 4 watercolours by unknown artists depicting the Bering Strait in July 1854 and Petropavlovsk, Russia.

Anderson, John B., flourished 1841-1850 : John B. Anderson (fl. 1841-1850), was an amateur painter of watercolours and sketches. He acted as Lieutenant in the British Navy, serving on H.M.S. Plover, Nancy, and Dawson, and on Herald in the Bering Sea from 1848 to 1849. Anderson was stationed in the British Columbia area between 1841 and 1848. Harper, J. Russell.
