Fonds consists of portraits of various residents of Vancouver, British Columbia, including a large number of prominent people in business and politics. Photographs also document weddings with a small mixture of architectural material done for magazines including House and Garden. Photographs by Tony Archer.

Archer, Anthony S : Anthony "Tony" Staunton Archer, was a prominent Vancouver photographer. In 1973 Archer's portrait studio "Tony Archer Ltd.", located in Vancouver, was disbanded.

Material aquired between 1972 and 1976 from Tony Archer and Stephen Miller.

Historique de la conservation :

In 1972 Anthony "Tony" Archer, a prominent Vancouver photographer, retired from business and sold his studio and post-1960 negatives to Stephen Miller and David Olds. At the time of his retirement, Archer contacted the National Archives of Canada and deposited the pre-1960 material, consisting of negatives and proof prints of Archer's work. Miller subsequently took over the business completely, changing the name of the studio to Stephen Miller Photography. In 1976, the National Archives agreed to purchase from Mr. Miller the negatives and proofs then on deposit at the National Archives of Canada, plus the material he retained from Archer.
