Canada. Dept. of Trade and Commerce. Agriculture and Fisheries Branch : Trade and Commerce was charged with the administration of the Manitoba Grain Act (2 Ed. VII Chap. 19) in 1901. This began the Department's involvement in the Canadian grain export trade. The Agricultural Commodities Branch was created in1950. This branch provided agricultural reports for dissemination by the Department of Agriculture and maintained close contacts with traders in agricultural commodities as well as commercial and agricultural representatives of foreign missions in Canada. In 1952 the Fisheries Section amalgamated with the Agricultural Commodities Branch to form the Agricultural and Fisheries Branch. The Wheat and Grain Division, which became simply the Grain Division in 1953, was also added. In 1964, the Agriculture and Fisheries Branch was one of four branches that made up the newly expanded Commodities and Industries Service. RG20 General Inventory
