Collection consists of films about the development of British Colubmia and Alaska including footage of mining and whaling operations in the area. Some of the films are by the Canadian Government Motion Picture Bureau and the film unit of the Canadian National Railways.

Provincial Museum of British Columbia : The British Columbia Provincial Museum was established in 1886, resulting from a petition signed by a group of 30 prominent citizens who recognized the need for a repository to collect and conserve records relating to the history of British Columbia. During its history the Museum experienced numerous moves, the implementation of two Provincial Museum Acts', and several name changes. It was known as the Provincial Museum from 1886 to 1912; the Provincial Museum of Natural History from 1914 to 1940; the Provincial Museum of Natural History and Anthropology from 1941 to 1967; the British Columbia Provincial Museum from 1968 to 1987; and the Royal British Columbia Museum from 1987 to present day. The Royal British Columbia Museum is located in Victoria, British Columbia.
