Collection consists of documentary films, on among other subjects, experiments in physics and in medicine. Included are The stream of life; The tin soldier and the dolls; Interesting experiments in physics; and Labour saving in the home. Also included is a film anthology of the winners of the 1968 Japan Prize International Educational Contest.

Collection also consists of sound recordings including interviews with Gladys Reeves, retired photographer, conducted by Hugh Taylor, Karl Kaesekamp and George Brandak of the Provincial Museum and Archives of Alberta. Topics include: Ernest Brown, his career in photography, his participation in the Sons of England, his newspaper Glow-Worm, his museum of historical photographs, and his photograph and lantern slide exhibitions. Reeves also discusses her career in photography, and photographic techniques. Interviews were conducted in July 1966, and February and September 1967.

Also included in collection are photographs and artistic material. Photographs depict inauguration ceremonies, Alberta, September 1905, portraits of members of the new government, and the opening of the Alberta Legislature in March 1906. Art material consists of three posters, one poster is an advertisement for the photo exhibition "C.W. Mathers' Vision" to be held at the Provincial Museum of Alberta from January 21 to April 2, 1989. The remaining two posters reflect the multi-media nature of the archival holdings in the Provincial Archives of Alberta (Preserving our Documentary Heritage).

Custodial history:

Some of the documentary films in this collection (accession 1973-0242) were originally part of the University of Alberta Department of Extension Wingfoot Travelling Library of Educational Lantern Slides and Films.
