1 print reproduction.Langue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Collection consists of a variety of films. Much of the footage is about British Columbia including travelogues and documentaries on the province and its natural resources.
Collection also includes sound recordings of radio news programs hosted by Al Collins and Jack Webster, and two news broadcasts by CBC Vancouver.
Also included in collection are photographs including a portrait of Alfred Waddington, ca 1850-1860; group photo of B.C. Legislative Assembly, 1875; views of Victoria, B.C., ca. 1870-1880; portraits of B.C. men who were involved with the entry B.C. into Confederation; articles of clothing, possibly issued to relief camp workers in relief camps run by the department of National Defence, ca. 1930; and a replica of the S.S. Beaver rebuilt for the B.C. Centennial celebrations, 1966.
Collection also includes a reproduction of a statue of Captian George Vancouver brought down from the top of the Parliament Buildings, Victoria, B.C. and exhibited in the late 1950s.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :British Columbia Archives and Records Service : The British Columbia Archives and Records Service (BCARS) was established in 1989 as the result of an amalgamation between the Provincial Archives of British Columbia and Records Management Branch. The mandate of the BCARS is "to provide a recorded information management program for the British Columbia government and also acquire, preserves and makes available records of enduring value to British Columbia".
