Canada Atlantic Railway : The Canada Atlantic Railway Company was incorporated under Dominion Act, 42 Vic., Cap. 57 of 15 May 1879 by the amalgamation of the Montreal and City of Ottawa Junction Railway Company, and Coteau and Province Line Railway and Bridge Company. These lines were completed in sections and opened for traffic between 1882 and 1890. In 1891 some 37.61 miles of line between Hawkesbury and Glen Robertson and between Limoges and Rockland were leased from the Central Counties Railway Company for 99 years.

On 6 June 1899, under Dominion Act, 62-63 Vic., Cap. 81 of 11 August 1899 the Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound Railway Company amalgamated with the Canada Atlantic Railway Company and took the latter's name. Also in 1899 The Pembroke Southern Railway Company was leased. Another Canada Atlantic property was the Vermont and Province Line Railroad Company which commenced operations in 1897. As well as railways, the Canada Atlantic system owned and operated two shipping lines, the Canada Atlantic Transit Company and the Canada Atlantic Transit Company of United States.

The Canada Atlantic system was sometimes known as the "Booth Group" because it was owned, almost in its entirety, by Mr. John R. Booth of Ottawa.

Under agreement of 15 August 1904 the Grand Trunk acquired all Canada Atlantic properties, shares and leases. Under Dominion Cap. 89 of 27 May 1914 the Canada Atlantic Railway Company amalgamated with and took the name of the Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada. RG30 General Inventory
