The 1969 calendar contains 3 photomechanical reproductions after historical reconstruction paintings by Don Anderson, Lorne Bouchard, and Bruce Johnson. The cover shows a faux green template with the number 1969 cut out placed over the painting by Bruce Johnson allowing a partial view of the painting. The calendar dates from 1969, one year before HBC ended its production of popular calendars with their historic themes. The images for the calendars are likely copies of commissioned works, since it was the practice of the company to commission renowned Canadian artists to produce artwork for the calendars. After 1961 the company adopted the format of 3 pages, each with a different image associated with a 4 month calendar block; this calendar reflects this format. There are 4 folios (counting the cover as folio 1). The last 4 months and image are printed in inverse order, top to bottom.
