Fonds consists of moving images including documentary clips on sport activities at McGill University, and on the highlights of the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, 1920-1946.

Also included in fonds are photographs depicting audio-visual and multi-media aspects of selected national pavilions and theme buildings at Expo '67 held in Montreal, Quebec; maquettes of pavilions include Japan, Ontario, Australia, USA, Atlantic Provinces, Israëli, Trinidad, Mexico, Theme Bldgs, Habitat '67, Quebec, La Ronde at night, Edmonton Golden Garter Saloon, Canada, United Nations, Western Provinces, Common Market, Thaïland, Ethiopia, India, Switzerland, Australia, Belgium, Austria, New York, Maine, Vermont, Cuba, Canadian Indians, Britain, Italy, France, Germany, USSR, Iran, Tunisia, Korea, Scandinavia, Venezuela, Burma, La Ronde (Minirail and night lamps, Restaurant Prama-Chez, Ceylon, China, Dancing waters, Main entrance of Expo '67, Netherlands, Eastern Provinces and Yugoslavia; geographic and agricultural views of the Maritimes, and the United States; members of the first hockey team at McGill University, 1881; members of the McGill University football team, 1890; and a group of atheletes representing Oxford University, Cambridge University, McGill University and the University of Toronto, 1901.

In addition, fonds consists of artistic material including posters advertising lectures and events at McGill University in Montreal, 1982. Posters by Naoto Kondo.

McGill University : McGill University, Montréal, was founded in 1821 as a result of an endowment left in the will of James McGill for the purpose of establishing a college, to the trusteeship Royal Institution for the Advancement of Learning. In 1829 it acquired a Faculty of Medicine, in 1843 McGill College's Faculty of Arts began, and in 1852 McGill merged with the Royal Institution for the Advancement of Learning. Today the University comprises 22 faculties and professional schools offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in some 300 disciplines, 73 affiliated research institutes, 17 libraries, 6 teaching hospitals, 3 affiliated theological colleges, 4 remote research stations (Barbados, New Brunswick, two in Quebec), and 6 student residence. General note:

Material in accession 1975-284 (NPC) was loaned to the National Archives of Canada and copied. The originals were then returned to the lender. Remaining material was acquired between 1967 and 1984.

Custodial history:

Some of the moving images (accession 1973-0267) were part of the Canadian Film Institute's (CFI) transfer to the National Archives of Canada on May 12, 1975. The CFI received the material from McGill University in 1973. The rest of the movng image material was acquired directly from McGill in 1973.
