These drawings are similar in concept to the British military topographical drawings of the late 18th-19th centuries.
The series also includes street scenes, outdoor aritectural views from Vancouver, B.C. to Cape Breton Island. The drawings are also topographical in nature, following the tradition of the military topographical artist. Selected titles include: "Dusk at the Airport, Vancouver, B.C.", "Hoodoos, The Badlands, Drumheller, Alberta", "Near Manotick, Ontario", "Fort Garry Gate, Winnipeg, Manitoba", "Fish Houses, Sandy Cove, Nova Scotia", "West Point Blockhouse, St. Andrew's N.B.", "Train Stop, Fort Hope, Ontario", "Old Mill Bridge, Toronto", and "Chief Eagle's Camp, Caughnawaga, P.Q."
The series also contains political cartoons acquired by Dobush from numerous artists and includes works by Jan Kamlenski, Roy Peterson, Peter Kuch, Al Beaton, Roland Berthiaume, John Collins, Bobby Atkinson, Robert Bierman, Gordie Moore, Len Norris, Rusins Kaufmanis, James Simpkins, Peter Whally, K.D. Tolmie and Douglas Wright. The cartoons cover political and social topics such as Canada/US relations, Year and reviews, world relations, Canadian political parties and politicians; nuclear arms, sports, animals and Canadian culture. Sketches from the years 1965-1975 are primarily architectural views such as hotels, houses, streets, cars and landscape views from highways throughout Ontario especially Ottawa and the surrounding regions.Source:Private -
