Sub-series consists of registers containing copies of warrants for the removal of insane prisoners from the jail to the lunatic asylum, Province of Canada and Canada, 1861-1868, (416 pages, Volumes 180, 196- 197, 214 and 272, Reels C-3944, C-3947, C-3951 and C-3954). The sub-series also includes indexes to warrants relating to insane prisoners, Province of Canada and Canada, 1861-1868, (140 pages, Volumes 261 and 334, Reels C-3957 to C-3958 and C-3965).

Volume 1043 contains an original warrant for the removal of S. Root from the Lincoln County Jail, Ontario, to the Criminal Lunatic Asylum and an original warrant to the Medical Superintendent of the Criminal Lunatic Asylum, Rockwood, Ontario, to receive S. Root in 1868.
